Christmas Crafts

Its never too early to start getting things ready for Christmas. I had some extra time this evening so I whipped up a few things. I bought the frame for $15.00 about a month ago. I painted with a aqua spray paint, and then used my glaze to give it a more antique look. I initially found them for $65.00 on ETSY. I think that's called a rip-off. I painted the insert with chalkboard paint so that I could have fun with different sayings. I got the other crafts at Wood Connection. I just bought the letters for Jolly separately and then found some coordinating papers at a scrapbook store. I painted to "O" and while the paint was wet, I pressed glitter onto it. I continue with my obsession for Subway art. I got a shadow box and painted it white. I glued the paper to the front of it and then applied the vinyl. I added the ribbon so that it would kinda look like a gift.
The pictures at the top are of a Lemon Poppy seed cake. I made it last Sunday, It turned out perfect! I love that cake, so moist and the lemon flavor is delicious.

I recently joined a Non-Profit Organization called, Fight the New Drug. I have been trying to find ways that I can help with the fight against Pornography. I decided that the best way was to get involved with a program that is aimed at youth. Hopefully, I will have the opportunity to volunteer at an event, or do some blog writing for them soon. All Hallows Eve

Greetings to all you who are enjoying this lovely fall evening. I write to you from the confines of my room. I have put myself on house arrest, because I have been struck by an awful bug. I thought I may as well update you on the wonderful Saturday evening at my house. I decided this year that I would throw together a Halloween party. I slowly got my roommates excited about the idea, and the plan was put into motion. I guess you can see for yourself the fun that was had by all.

Is that Mrs. Claus dancing? Yes, Yes it is.

I hope that everyone else is out getting some candy and enjoying the festivities of Halloween.

Tutorials for Everything

To begin, take one used book. I picked one up a DI for two dollars. I wanted an old book so the pages would appear very worn. If you don't like the thought of destroying a book, quit reading here....

Take three or four pages and tear them out.

Draw a swirl pattern starting in the middle of the book. Try and keep the lines evenly spaced, so your flower is the same all the way around.

Here is the close up of the lines. I drew it in a pink pen, so it doesn't show up very well in the pictures. Start on the outside edge and start cutting it around.

It will look like this when you are done cutting.

Line up the edges, so that you can begin rolling them together.

You will roll the center really tight, and then loosen up as you get farther out.

Keep rolling.

Now you have the nice round center at the bottom of the flower shape. Fill the bottom with hot glue, and then push the round part over the glue. This helps keep the whole thing together and stable.

This is the result of one flower. Aren't they cute?

Are you now prepared to make a hundred or so of these? If you are then you can proceed with the project.

When you have a few done, then you can begin hot gluing them onto a wreath form.

Almost finished product. I wasn't going to have time to finish the whole thing so I wrapped some pages around the rest of the wreath. I will continue to fill it in when I get the time. These wreaths(although much smaller than mine) are being sold on $40.00 or more on Etsy. I think its going to be quite lovely. Now you can see why I may have gotten a few burns. In case are are interested my finger is doing better. I am receiving treatment from my roommate, Brittany, who works in the Burn Unit. Lucky I have here to look after me when I make foolish mistakes.

Next, I made a delicious soup from Pioneer Woman cooks for a Relief Society Activity. I decided that in October we should have a Soup Social. I haven't really got a committee so I have to plan ahead and get everything done myself.

This Recipe is Carrot and Yellow Squash Curry Soup:

Cut up one onion. Five cloves of garlic, three carrots, and four yellow squash. You cook the onions and garlic in 3 tablespoons of olive oil. Let them cook for a few minutes and then add the carrots. Cook the carrots for 3 minutes or until they are starting to get soft. Then add the squash. Let all the cook for about five minutes.

Add a tablespoon of curry powder.

It's looking tasty.

Now add two boxes of Chicken broth. Then put the lid on and cook for one hour.

Open the lid, and it looks exceptional.

Put in blender and puree.

Put it back in the pot and let it warm up again. It has a little kick, so I recommend letting people add a little cream. I think the consensus is, its the most amazing soup. Its a definite keeper. The girls loved it.

To top it off, hot rolls from the oven.

Although we didn't have a bunch of girls come, the ones that did were well fed and happy.

Pain

This is what happens when you are careless while crafting. I hope the project is worth all of the pain. I was out of Ibuprofen, so I had to find a substitute. Luckily, I had some left over pain killers from when I was really sick last year. I haven't had a burn this bad(that I remember) since 5th grade. I am hopeful that my project will be one of my best ever. Stay tuned, I hope to be posting the tutorial by Saturday morning.

Blustery Bitter Days

I can't help but be a little depressed that the weather has turned so cold, so very quickly. It makes me want to snuggle up in my bed and never leave it. I had a little bit of that problem this morning, I was all warm and cozy with my fluffy blanket and my cursed alarm ruined everything. I have broken out the Pumpkin Spice candle, and it remains lit as long as I am home. It helps to remind me to be cheerful, and reflect on the beauty of fall. Indeed, fall is my favorite season, when it is not ruined by an early winter. I have been extremely grateful this week for all of the blessings in my life. Conference couldn't have come at a better time. I did a lot of self evaluation, and I am making the changes that I have determined will make be happy. So far, I am very content. I have been able to spend time with my dad these last few weeks as he was living at the hospital. It was good for me to be able to be there for him when he needed me. I was given many opportunities to serve last week, and it only made me more grateful for the great things my parents have taught me. One of the most touching moments of the week, I was laying awake with a 4 year-old at 1:00am. We were both trying to relax and she was telling me stories. I was on the floor next to her bed, and she put her arm over the bed and asked me to hold her hand. We stayed like that until she fell asleep, but right before she fell asleep she peeked over the side of the bed, and said,"I love you." It was a testimony to me that Heavenly Father is watching over me, and that we are instruments in his hands. Her tender words inspired me and helped me to be grateful for service. I never know when people are watching me or need me, but as I pray diligently that I can be guided to help everyone, I have had numerous experiences these past weeks. I wanted to share something that Glendon said to me in one of our last conversations. I was at their house for breakfast, and Glendon was asking me what I wanted to do with my life. He didn't want a general answer like I am use to giving. He wanted me to give the real soul searching answer. I sat pondering for a few minutes what I knew was the answer but one that I so rarely share. I told him what he wanted to hear, and what I really wanted to say. His response was simple, and yet so thought provoking for me. It was exactly what I needed to hear. "So, what are you doing to get it." My response......"Nothing." The one thing I wanted most in life, I was really not exerting none of my efforts towards it. I attribute my new found discovery of "my life" to him. I will forever be grateful for the many kind words that were spoken, and encouragement that was given. Glendon has been a great influence for good in my life, and I hope to be able to share with others the things that I learned from him.

End of Summer Adventures

This is the Car Seat Cover that I made for Julie's little girls, Kaestli. I think for not following a pattern, it turned out quite cute.

Banner wandering off in the Sand Dunes. We had a great time out riding together. We laughed so hard, because we about threw ourselves off when I hit some human size washboards too fast.

Next, an adventure to Cave Falls. It was a very pleasant day, except that I got attacked by Mosquitoes. My face still itches.

Remember this hair, it is going to be chopped soon. I can't decide on the exact style, but....what do you think?

Freedom

I have been given a lot of time to think about the Freedom that I enjoy as an American. To celebrate and to help me remember the sacrifices that have been made for the blessings that I now receive, I made a little craft. Leslie helped me get it painted. I decided that I wanted it to resemble a flag, so we embarked on tracing our lines, and painting inside of them. It turned out just as I planned. The flag on the side, I made in June. Miranda should put up a picture of the one that she completed at the same time. I then made one a Bridgette's request for her mother-in-law, and then I made one for Glendon for Father's day. Glendon got very emotional, and told me no one had been so thoughtful,(He is a very patriotic man). So, let's just say I have a little practice putting together a stacking flag. I love them, so I won't complain. I want to wish everyone a Happy July. It was 2 years ago yesterday, that I made it back to the U.S.A. and I am so grateful for this wonderful country.

The Good Life

It has been three days since my graduation. Friday was such a good day. I was overcome by my emotions several times throughout the day. I have got my wits about me today and I feel like writing about it. It was surreal for me to be finally reaching the pinnacle of my education. It was something that I had set as my highest goal for so long, it has been hard to see past it. It was a little bit unbelievable that it had finally happened. Thus, the emotional roller coaster that I was on. I have been put into a new ward, and yesterday was our first Sunday to attend. I feel like this is a good thing, and I am committed to being more active in the activities. I hope that the Bishop will feel inspired to call me to the perfect calling. If that calling exists? I went to the dermatologist today, I had a few skin issues. The patch on my arm, is still undetermined. He is going to have me try some creams and see what it looks like in a few weeks. I had the kids favorite mole on my neck sliced off. Sorry to anyone who might miss it. My goal of never having stitches was dashed today, and I feel kinda depressed about that. I have four stitches on my back. Yes, the cysts that provided entertainment for many, is now a thing of the past. He took a punch and twisted into my back and removed the sack of....whatever. He let me look at it a few times, it looked liked a spiders sack of babies. It was really deep down in my back, it looked like just under and inch of skin and then the cyst. He is going to run some tests on my mole, and I have to go back in ten days for my stitches to be removed. It has been an eventful week, and I am looking forward to the future. I don't know what my plan is, I haven't written anything in stone...yet.

I hear some are calling it an extended vacation, but I call this life...exhaustion. I went from Washington D.C. in the morning to Denver, to Salt Lake, where I made pit stop at my house to grab some clean clothes, and then I headed straight(driving) for California. Some may be asking, "Is she insane?" I believe the answer would be, "Certainly seems that way." The beaches have been beautiful, and I already have a very nice color. It may be all red, but it will turn brown quick. The view from the beach house is amazing. I don't know how else to describe it. Laguna Beach is a quaint little town, with nice uppity stores, and quiet people. I can't wait to be in Castle Dale for Easter.

Remake: An Old Favorite

Does anyone remember this dresser? I have been stalking some design blogs for a couple of weeks. It inspired me to take some of my families old furniture and redesign it. I had to fix a couple broken parts, and then I took it apart. I primed each piece, and then painted them a dover white. I used a dark brown glaze(someone else had chosen the color but didn't like it) I got it for half price at Magnusons. I applied it on the dry paint, and then wiped it with a damp cloth. It turned out really cute. I can't wait to get some old glass handles on the doors.
Total cost:
1 can of primer-$4.00
4 cans spray paint-$15.00
New Hardware-$16.00
= $35.00 and a brand new dresser!

I attended a information session about Picasa hosted by Morgan. I think I know have a handle on how to edit my own photos. How exciting!

Ever a Procrastinator

I have had an issue with procrastination since my days as a wee lass. I always set the goal that I won't do it anymore, but alas I can't seem to break the chain. So, blog posts rarely ever happen, homework gets saved till the last possible second, and writing missionaries happens at midnight. Not cool. The plus side(if you can call it that) It did help me to get good at writing 5 page papers in under two hours. Quite the achievement. Now, I really need to be on top of things or else...I will regret it. I am getting ready to take the Foreign Service Exam in February, the GRE as soon as possible, and doing grad school applications. Luckily, I have a little bit of time, but not a huge amount. I have to remind myself daily to stay on top of stuff. 2011 is the year that I have to make life improvement my priority. They always get pushed to the back burner, because as was brought to my attention this week, again, I feel like I don't deserve good things and if it doesn't come easy for me, I hate it. I should have a permanent chant going in my head, "Not everything is easy, most everything is hard." Maybe then I would get more done.
I have set several goals for this year, and I need to get them written down somewhere that I can be held accountable.
1. Stick to the plan(you are paying for it).
2. Exercise daily. I am horrible at this.
3. Spend more time doing social things. I roll my eyes when I think about this one.
4. Make every fast a spiritual experience. Cleanse my inner vessel.
5. Think less about things I want now, and think about what I want in the future. This will cause me to save more? I hope.
6. Walk in the U's commencement ceremony, wearing a beautiful bright pink lei.
7. Be a good example for the kids at the middle school. Meaning, if I don't want them to procrastinate, I shall not do it either.
8. Watch Jimmer play as much as I can. I don't think I have seen a better player. So excited to see all he can do.
As the year goes on, I will be adding to that list, and hope to cross them off, or change them to a more improved goal for next year.

Senioritis

I don't know if it is a real medical condition, but I feel some real senioritis setting in. Besides the fact that I am battling a cold, I am also trying to convince myself that school will end, and I will get everything done. I have been very busy and seems like I won't be getting a real break for quite awhile. I need to write two papers by Thursday, and at least four more after that. I assume thats the life of every history major. I walked home in the snow today. It was cold, and beautiful. It took me about an hour to get from campus to my house, I was walking very carefully. We all know I have a tendency to lose my balance, and end up on the ground. Luckily, that hasn't happened today. Eva is still spoiled, but I did trim my her front nails. She was livid. She tried to make me jealous but being buddy buddy with my roommate. Right now she is sleeping between my legs. At least she isn't biting my feet! My roommates and I are making a real effort to be part of our ward, and we are actually enjoying ourselves. We were in charge of the treats at Family Home Evening last night. I made different kinds of Rice Krispies. They were tasty. I can't wait for Thanksgiving.

Day 6: Traveling to San Diego

As we were driving away from the Radisson, a great Tears for Fears song came onto the radio. I started thinking I love this song, I have it on my Ipod. Ipod...where is it? I know, its safe in the hotel safe. We had to make a quick turn around, and then allowed me to get it out. I seems the Spirit can whisper to me through music. We made a lunch stop in a quaint little town, which I have been to before. San Juan Capistrano, it is a Spanish Mission town. We had lunch at a Diner that looked over the town. The salad was completely refreshing, after a few days of the fast food in Disney. We headed toward San Diego, confidant that we were going to have some amazing times. We kept along the highway watching for our stop, but we never saw it. We just started seeing the sign that said, "International Border in 30 miles, 15 miles, 10 miles." At this point I called Mom and asked her to help us out. We finally broke down and payed for the navigation system on my phone. It laid out the path for us to backtrack 18 miles, and directly to out hotel door. We were so excited to have finally have arrived. Then we walked into this:

The first room that they sent us into was a real winner. It was like stepping back into the 1950's and not the fun part of them.

Sara finally got worked up enough to call her travel agent. Amber was nice enough to arrange a new room. We moved from the low of the lows to sunny side of the street. See if you can see a difference? We can't decide what kinda trick they were trying to pull on us.

We spent the rest of the night using the GPS on my phone to try and find our way around. Sara is going to blog about our experiences from today. We are having a really good time, even if we were sad to say goodbye to Disneyland.

Day 4: Lessons Learned

Do you recognize this ride? It does a good job of soaking its passengers.

We had a very early morning. Part of the that was motivated by the fact that we needed to get Fast passes for The World of Color in California Adventure. We were some of the very first in line, and got to be some of the first twenty in line. We got our passes, and went directly to Soarin over California. We loved it, again. The line was maybe ten minutes because we were there so early. I was able to persuade Sara to ride the Hollywood Tower of Terror. It was exactly that. Sara got so scared on the first drop, and couldn't find her handles that she tried to rip my shirt off. I screamed harder than I have in a long time. It was truly a terrifying ride. We passed from there straight to the California Screamin. Great Roller Coaster. We hung around for lunch at Boudin Sourdough. We had eaten at the Flagship store in San Francisco years ago. It was pretty darn tasty. We had to share some of the leftovers with the ducks. They just looked so hungry. It was then time for us to head over to Disneyland for the day. Lines were long because of the Columbus Day holiday. WE actually didn't end up waiting to long for anything. We don't want to give to many details of where and what rides we were on because, that could give you clues to the quiz. Lets just say Captain EO was entertaining. The original show from 1986 was brought back after Michael Jackson passed away. We had very friendly conversations with people from England, New Zealand and Australia. They all selected Disney as their holiday location. Interesting. We enjoyed the Parade on Mainstreet, then ran over to wait for the World of Color show. It was spectacular. They set fountains all over the Paradise Pier. It was a water show, with images being projected over the water in the air. It was amazing, and kept us riveted.

P.S. Our dogs are barkin or as Sara says our Bargs are Dockin.

Funny tidbit if you say, "My Neck" with a think southern accent, you would be hearing Sara on our shuttle tonight.

Korean BBQ

We ventured out for Dinner tonight, and went as far as next door. We should have left as soon as we didn't understand the greeter, and when we saw everyone was Korean. We couldn't understand the menu, or our waitress who tried to translate it. We did the best we could, and lookie lookie. Yes, it included a whole raw egg. We did our best to try everything. Shelley you can be glad that you weren't eating this. The best part of the meal was the gum they gave us at the door. We had to leave and drive to a Stater Supermarket. We have since learned that we are camped in "Little Korea."

Day 1: Miranda's Birthday

As you can see we were lucky enough to book a room at the Stratford 2. Little did I know, the accommodations were good for Sara but not for me. I was on a air mattress that was deflated by 1 am. Sound familiar? Overall, I would give it 4 stars because of the food and good company.

Sara and I started leg one of the journey by leaving Salt Lake at 3:30pm. We both had to work, and so therefore we started late. I also was a little nervous to leave behind little Eva, but the Jorgensen's assured me she was in good hands. I hope you are having fun!! We got to Cedar City, just in time to celebrate Miranda 23rd birthday with her. She had worked hard and prepared her own Birthday feast. As you can see the food was delicious. Happy Birthday Miranda.

Introducing Eva Suyapa

I went to my mission reunion last Friday, and came home with a stronger testimony.......nope, well that and a Kitten. They were going to put her out on the road, and I knew what came after that. I couldn't take it. So, I brought her home. She enjoyed her weekend with the kids, and now she is just with me. Lets just say we've learned how to fit two of us in my bed. My sleep schedule is now changed, because she liked to be up at five thirty. Which means its time to play. I have decided that I should get up and study the scriptures as long as I am up. I read on the internet that you shouldn't put them outside by themselves until they are ten weeks old. So we have to endure for a few more weeks. She is so cute. We are bonding very well, as you can see. She has the spots that she likes to sleep.

I'm very busy with school and work. I am in Midterm week, and trying to rededicate myself to studying. Yikes!!

Sara and I are taking our road trip this Friday, and I am super excited. I bet you can't wait to see all the pictures.

We celebrated Lizzy and Dennis's 32nd Anniversary. They both had to work, so we made dinner and decorated a cake.

Leah really, really, really enjoyed it.

Lily, has found her new best friend. Everyday when he got home from work she was so excited to see him. She would stand and wave her hand signaling that he was to come to her and pick her up. Best Buds.

We've got Lily with a Cowboy hat and Poncho, it seems fitting.

These are the ingredients. Tomatoes, Basil, Olive oil, Garlic, Crescent Rolls, and Provolone Cheese.

Make a Basil and Garlic infused olive oil. Just add them all together in the pan, and let it warm up. Its going to smell great.

Spread out one can of rolls in a pie tin, and then poke them with a fork. Stick them in the oven for 15 minutes at 350.

Cut up all of your tomatoes. You are now going to alternating layers of cheese and tomatoes. Since I couldn't figure out how to move my pictures, the final pic is the completed pie in the beginning. You top the tomatoes with mozzarella cheese and the olive oil and basil. Bake it until the cheese is melted. Its a refreshing dish, that uses to of my favorite flavors. Enjoy it.

One Year Anniversary

At this time one year ago I was sitting on a plane from Miami to Dallas. I was still wearing a missionary tag, and very anxious about the future. I can't believe how quickly time has gone. I am just finishing my 2nd summer semester at the U. I will be graduating in December, and as of yet, I have no plan. It's a very scary outlook. I have been job hunting for a month and a half, but as of yet have not hired. I have been on three interviews in the past week, and none of them have called. It makes me seriously question what in the world is wrong with me. Am I unemployable? I have another interview on Monday, I hope it goes well. I am suppose to be moving into a new place on August 1st. Brittany, Rachel, and Ashley, are moving into a cute house on 4th east. It has some work to be done, but it has alot more room for all of our stuff. I looked into donating plasma yesterday. All the comments and reviews don't say very good things about the places here in Salt Lake, but I think I am going to get very brave and do it next week. I hope my veins will behave for them, because they sure haven't when I have tried to donate blood. I found out yesterday that one of the elders that I served with in Honduras, is now Leslies Ward mission leader. He contacted me yesterday through facebook and we chatted for awhile. He says that her Spanish is very good and that she isn't sunburned. He promised that his mom was making them very good food, and that he was working with them. I told him I would be in contact with him again to check on the situation. I feel better knowing that somebody I know is with her. Although it is weird feeling knowing that she is so far away and still can meet people that know me. She should meet a few more before her mission is over. My mission President is coming into town on Tuesday. I am so excited to see him. My parents and I are going to take him out for dinner on Friday. On Sunday he has requested that I sing in a Spanish Branch where he will be speaking, then Monday we are having all the Rm's over for a party. He was so disappointed when he found out it was only one day to be with the missionaries. I tried to explain that everyone is very busy and can't be with him for a week. Hopefully he will be okay with that:) Its going to be such a happy reunion. I can't wait.
I'm know trying to think of where I will be next year at this time...who knows. I need to come up with a plan soon. Any ideas?

Spring Semester is OVER

Tennyson, with the van outside of the Stratford. She really wanted to drag this beast home. I thought it would be a good car for Banner to have when she turned sixteen. A new paint job, with a shiny magenta stripe down the middle, that would be so cute. Too bad Mom and Dad turned it down.

I just finished the semester this past week. I wanted to take it easy. I felt a little overwhelmed at the end. I had never taken 18 credit hours before, and add working 20 hours a week, and you get an insane combo. I have a new appreciation for those who have done it before, and those who have yet to do it. I got a little crafty this past week. I made another bag for my roommate Ashley's graduation. She has a Masters Degree now! She is amazing. Also, I started putting together all of my charm packs together. I think the quilt is going to be cute. Unfortunately, I have not taken any pictures. For other news I started working full-time this week. 10 hour days could potentially kill me. I applied for three jobs on my break. When I got back my supervisor informed me that they were going to start letting people go. They don't want to let 1600 people go at the same time, so they are going to be doing every week. That stinks, but I need more than a temporary job. It was great to refresh my Spanish, and keep me going this Spring. Anybody heard of someone hiring? I start Summer semester on Monday. I have never gone to Summer school in my life. This is going to be a new feeling. Although I am excited, my first class is Spanish 4690 Central American Culture. I think I have a pretty idea of what thats about. I look forward to learning all that I can. I got financial aid, so I get to take my classes this summer, and only take 12 credit hours in the fall. It still counts as full time, just a light schedule(which isn't true for me, I have to take my Senior Seminar). After I graduate in December, I am going to be looking for a nice vacation. I think instead of a vacation, I will be looking at finding a job. Why did the recession have to happen right now? Sean Merkley(mission friend) called me last night and asked if I would be interested in going to Honduras in August. Of course. Now, I need to save up a few buck for a ticket to hondo. I'm glad I can go with someone who can drive down there. Its going to be a blast. I talked to Kaloulaine(MTC Comp.) and she is coming out to visit in June. I can't wait to see her. I wish she would move out here. That would be a blast. Well, I guess my laundry is calling me. Best be off.

Has it really been a month?

Its time for me to start blogging again. I think about it everyday, but I never can find the time. I've been working every night, as we are transitioning to a new part of the census project. I only have one week left of classes, before my finals start. I couldn't be more excited. I have been loving the warm weather. I planted some cilantro yesterday, and I look forward to making some delicious salsa. I registered for my last semester of classes, last night. Yes!!! I wanted to take Civil War-Reconstruction, and The French Revolution, but they changed the requirements and I now have to have classes from different areas. Instead, I need to take Modern India, and Age of Attila the Hun and my senior seminar class is.....dum da dah....The Mexican Revolution. I haven't taken so many different things in one semester in a long time. This semester has been nice because all of the subject have related to one another the majority of the time. It helps when you have to write five 10 page papers, to know ample information from different professors.

Thank heavens the snow is finally gone, and we can see the beautiful tulips. I can barely wait for the peonies. When I head home this weekend, I hope they have beautiful flowers blooming too. See you soon!!

ps. Lizzie promised that I could help in the garden, I used to dream about that garden on my mission. Happy Day.

Spring Break

My Spring Break doesn't officially start until Monday, but I figure since I don't have classes today, today is the day! I am busy, like I haven't been in months. I work 5 nights a week, and go to school 2 days for 8 hours. I have had a midterm exam once a week since the 11th of February. I have never studied so much in my life. I've made new friends and for that I am grateful. This Spring Break is the first that I haven't been able to go home and I am sad. I have a ton of stuff to do. I need to write two book reports, 1 long essay, rewrite 1 paper, and write a another analytical essay. Believe it or night, thats not because I procrastinated, thats if I prepare early. All these things plus more exams are due after Spring Break. There is light at the end of the tunnel, however, I only have 5 weeks left of school. Summer!!

I started working with a personal trainer at the first of March. I do weight training 3 hours a week. She has taught me some really good techniques and I feel stronger already. I'm hoping this is the thing that will help me get to a healthier state. As the temperatures get warmer I look forward to spending alot of time outside.

I also have begun looking through my fabric collection, and am planning on making some quilts on my own. I plan on starting one this weekend. My friend Brittany comes home from Honduras on Thursday, its hard for me. I feel like after this all my connections with my mission in Honduras will be gone. Its a harsh reality, and I feel like it was all a dream long ago. I got the chance to drive home for one day this week, and participate in Missionary week. It was a great opportunity. My Seminary teacher Bro. Doria, wants me to think of becoming a Seminary teacher. I don't think that I am spritual enough to do that. I will have have to look into the program here at the U. I love being with the youth, and I know that they do need many positive mentors that love them. I have alot of prayer and soul searching in front of me. I am really trying to figure out what to do in the future, and as the end of my university grows near, I am becoming even more anxious to determine my plan. Alas, I have no idea. Nothing seems to come to me and say "do this." I very much look forward to figuring out my life. Enjoy your Spring as much as I plan too. Warm weather means a happy whitney. Adios

While I'm Waiting

I am waiting to go get Ashley from the airport, so I thought I coul blog a bit. I have done nothing of importance, surprise. I am currently preparing for midterms. Six weeks have passed in the Spring Semester. It doesn't seem like that long but I can't wait for it to be over. I have an intense dislike for one of my Professors, and I can't wait to say adios to her. I will work through my ill feelings and do my reading with a scowl on my face. You can tolerate anything for a short time, or at least thats what I thought I learned. I found out the dates for the Utah Valley Marathon, and I will be signing up for the 5k. I will start with that and work up to the half, and so on. I have an intense desire to become an athlete. Maybe its the inspiring performance of all the Olympians. I'm fighting my balance issues, and I will conquer. I had to take my new skirt home and have lizzy help me take it in. Thats encouraging.

The above pic is of my new do. I like it alot. Its not hard to handle, as before. I think next time I'll have to try a new color.

I had a long weekend, and I didn't get enough sleep to make it through this week without feeling exhausted. I yawned through my classes today. I think I had a combined 500 pages of reading assignments. Its frustrating when people think that I want to read all of those lame documents and books. Just to add to that anger, they throw out pop quizzes. I love school. I'm so grateful I only have one semester left.

I just vented and I feel some relief. thanks for reading.....

Have and Have Nots

Well, I haven't done anything of note lately and by the state of our blogs...I'm guessing ya'll haven't either. I have made it through two weeks of school. I have not done all my homework. I have been assigned to read over 80 pages a night. I have not found that entertaining. I have fallen in love with my Utah History class. I have not ever had a LDS Professor until this semester. I have recieved news that my roommate is moving out. I have not found a new roommate, yet. I have spent more time with Ashley. I have not had so much fun with some my age for a long time. I have signed up for an institute class. I have not enjoyed an institute class this much...ever. I have worked out everyday for two weeks. I have not ever felt so good. I have been struggling to sleep. I have not considered sleeping pills. I have loved this new semester. I have not decided if that feeling will stick. I have been getting so excited for Spring. I have not liked the inversion. I have got a job interview on Monday. I have not an idea what they may ask or what I will wear. I'm feeling good because A. I went to school. B. Met a potential roommate. C. Gone to the temple. D. Remembered Grandma and the special moments we had together. E. Gone swimming for half and hour. Now I just need to get a good night of sleep. Can't wait to hear from all of you.

I had mission party on Friday. May I say that I haven't had that much fun in so long. I love being with these guys. I won't go through naming them all, but I'm sure you have heard me talk about some of them. We played soccer for hours, and remembered the good time in Honduras. I can't wait until we get together again in the summer. On sunday I am going to go to Sean Merkleys homecoming(we were in the MTC together). I love that guy.

The worst of times, I had to say goodbye to them for a little while and I start school again on Tuesday. I'm looking forward to the routine, but not all of the papers and tests. I remind myself that I only have to do this a few more times. At least I'm closer than most of the guys in the picture. sigh of relief. I've set new goals for my spiritual, mental, social and physical health. This new year means a new me. I look forward to all of the new experiences.

It seems like we never get a chance to celebrate Dads Birthday. Its falls in the same week as piano recitals, ward parties, and Jr. Jazz games. I was trying to remember all the birthdays we spent at other gatherings, and I think its almost everyone of them. Sorry Dad. I hope you got to do at least one thing fun today. At least you got a really good present this year, A suit:) I know you really wanted it. I love you.

Things I Want to Do This December

I am so excited to go and see the lights. I don't believe I have gone since I was in Elementary school. Its going to be amazing. I can't wait.

I want to make many Christmas treats. I may or may not eat them, but I want to see them on a plate. Some weird thing I have a about food. I can't decide what food to make, and so I end up just eating bread and peanut butter. I can't seem to get goodies out of my mind. Good Treats!

Going to Gardner Village. It is a happy place, that has the friendliest elves. Aren't they cute. I'm so glad Sara introduced me to this place. I get to go to the Quilt Shop for the first time since, 2007.

Last but not least, I get to go home! I will be done with this semester, and I get to leave the city. That means a few weeks of no homework. I am getting closer to the finish line for my degree and I am getting so excited. I love being at home!

Home for the Holidays. I've waited two years for this merry season. Its going to be a real thrill!!!

Well, I have to register for Spring Semester tomorrow. I can't believe its that time already. I only have 5 weeks left in the Fall Semester. I set a goal to be more active in my ward, and its starting to pay off. I have gone to an activity with the ward every night this week. I am getting to know people, and I think this is the perfect place for me. Its funny how long it took me to decide that. My fall has been good, and I am really looking forward to Thanksgiving. Although the radio stations have already begun to play Christmas music all day, I don't want to skip Thanksgiving. I was home over the weekend and I didn't get many photos, but I did have Tenny snap a few. I still have the goal to ride a horse, I guess theres always Christmas break. So, I bet you are all very interested in my schedule for Spring. I am taking: Post War Europe, United States Women since 1870, American History since 1880's, History of Utah, World History, and Cultural Spanish America. I think it is going to keep me super busy. Two of the classes are online so I am going to have to be diligent in my studying. It was the only way to get everything that I needed this semester. That means I am registering for 18 credit hours, which leaves just a few more classes and then on to the Graduate program. thrilling, huh? I set a goal while I was on my mission, to attend every temple in the world. I am starting with the local ones, and then as I get older, maybe I can be called on a mission to serve in a temple.

3 Months, Today.....

The three month mark. Wow, I can't believe that three months ago, I was on a plane making my way home to Utah. It seems like everything and nothing has happened in that amount of time. I am trying to "come home" but still having issues. Daily, people from Honduras find my facebook page or email me. I miss them intensly. They really are the sweetest people, and they made me feel so loved. I'm lucky that I have weekly contact with many of the missionaries, and they keep me up to date on whats happening in my querida pais. A friend started a facebook group last week, and assigned me to be the administrator, its fun to get to see all of my mission friends, and what they are doing now. We all have the same feeling, can you guess what it is, we want to be back in the mission field. Its funny to hear it from guys that have been home for over a year. We comment on each others photos and remember the great times we had. What an adventure. I get excited everytime I read a letter from Elder Baum, because he is on the verge of having all of these great times. The mission field...umm. The changes that we experience, and the wonderful love, of a people that are so different from us, it combines into the most amazing memories. I am so grateful for my time as a missionary. It was the best time of my life. Hasta muy pronto Hondoland.

I'm sure you've all just been sitting on the edge of your seats wondering when you were going to get a better look into my brain. Heres the chance. I made this list on my mission, so things may be different.

1. I love to buy shirts. I'm addicted to them.

2. I have a phobia of birds. I hate them, everything about them.

3. I daydream, all day, everyday. I probalby played out every scenario possible for every situation.

4. I fall in love with fictional characters. Ex. Mr, Darcy, Edward, Legolas etc..

5. I don't feel like an adult yet. I still feel like I should be the little girl, that doesn't have to forced to make decisions.

6. I love things that like antique.

7. My special weakness is pride. I have enough for everyone, and still some.

8. The most peaceful place I know is in Grandpas backyard.

9. I'm a jello expert. I made it everyday for Grandpa.

10. I drink oatmeal with water and sugar and I like it!

11. I think Jim, is a great character. Sarcasm, is a huge bonus.

12. I still love the smell and thought of drinking pepto bismal.

Thats not the whole list, but I figure I can share those at a later date. I laugh when I look back and read my mission journal, oh the memories. I admit I'm a goof ball, but loveable, right? Some have told me they are quite fond of me, so I don't care if I'm kinda a dork. School is still chugging along. I find myself a little more interested everyweek. I need to apply myself a little more, but one day at a time. I found conference completly renewing. I felt like I needed to hear every talk. I am rededicating myself. I need to consecrate my life unto the Lord and it has to start today. I spent the weekend with Sarah and Sara. Sarah Beech and I served together in Honduras. We were never companions but good friends. I didn't want her to leave. I know we will have many more time to talk and laugh. Shes a great girl, and we had some good times. We went to the Sunday afternoon session of Conference. Wow, Elder Holland can say it like it is. All I can say is, these men are called of God, and I respect them for dedicating their lives to helping us. I love this gospel, and I am grateful for all of you guys. See you next week.

My first day in the mission office. I looked thrilled right? I'm sure I was. A missionary sent this to me through facebook, last week. I didn't even know it exsisted. I miss them so much. 3 more months!!

Last year when everyone did their random facts page I enjoyed from a great distance. I now would like to post mine. I did indeed write mine in my mission journal. I ran across them, and I laughed so hard, I thought everyone else should know some funny things about me.

How Far I've Come

I've come far enough to know that watermelon is suppose to red, not yellow. I was unaware that it came in different colors. I sampled the melon, but admit that I like red better. This one has a really sweet taste. It looks cool if nothing else.

I've come far enough to welcome home Nicole. She got back from serving in the Hong Kong mission this week. She gave an amazing talk. It was so good to see her. We exchanged letters during our missions, but its nothing like talking in person. I look forward to many visits with her.

Yes, the goof troop minus one. We missed Pahulu. These are the sisters from my district in the MTC. Hermana Kylie Brown, and Hermana Rachel Jorgensen. We had lunch together on friday, and laughed about the good times in the MTC. They both served in the Barcelona, Spain mission.

As a side note, I have officially hit the two month mark. Yes, I have been home that long. It seems like yesterday, and then again it seems like forever. I still struggle with my yearnings to go back, but realize I must be home. Things are going good, and I know Heavenly Father will bless me. I got a job last week, working as a private tutor. The lady said she could feel a special glow about me. I guess its my firm desire to work with kids, and help motivate them. I will be teaching Spanish, Language Arts and History. I feel very lucky to have good job. I still am adjusting to the whole roommate, college life thing, and I know I'll make it. Luckily my roommates are sane individuals, and don't keep me up extraordinarily late. I love a good bedtime. As for school, my professors are still trying to indoctrinate us with their ideals, but what would the U be without that. It keeps me interested, because I refuse to be confused by their ramblings or rants. I love Utah, and I don't care if they think I'm a dumb girl with no idea what the world is about. I know what my world is about, and its about passing their class and moving on. I will love school, I just pray i start loving it this week. As for other news, I'm drawn a blank. Endure Well.

I took a few classic pics of my ever so photogenic sister Tennyson. Just to explain, we were in Dillards school shopping, and passed what I believe to be the biggest backpacks ever. I was a bad example and told tennyson to take them off the wall and we would take pictures. Who cares!

I wanted to wish my dear cousin zac a fine farewell. You are starting the greatest adventure of your life. I had a picture that was taken of zac giving me a hug on the day of my farewell. I so enjoyed my trip to Idaho. I was overjoyed to be with the family again. I love Idaho, as I believe I have said many time over. School has started

I started school on Monday. yipee. I was so nervous I couldn't keep my hands from shaking a little as I waited for the train. I jumped on the train and arrived at class a few minutes(30 to be exact) before it began. I hate being late. I was surprised when my teacher informed us that he was the Calvary Baptis Preacher in downtown. One class assignment will be to attend one of his services. Lucky me. I actually think it may be quite entertaining. My second class is a world civ class. I was waiting for class to start, and girl casually sits in the seat next to me. Normal, right? No. I looked her in the face, and realized it was my friend from before. We had met when she was a freshmen, in an ethnic studies class. While I was in the MTC, I saw her again. She was on the jumbotron in the choir. I hunted her down in the cafeteria, and found out she was going to Switzerland. How odd that we should end up together again. Needless to say we were very happy to see one another. We discussed after mission life a bit, and I feel relieved to have an unexpected friend.

I haven't attended all of my classes yet, but I feel a calm feeling about everything. the only thing keep me nervous is Spanish. I hope its not going to be as hard as I imagine. Pray for the best.

I'm glad to be halfway through my first week, and will be even happier when I have a job. We'll see what the next few days hold.

I started making this nightstand my Senior year. Yes, I took woodshop. Well, it's been in the garage for 5 years now. I have a hard time believing its been that long since I graduated. Well, my Dad stained it for me and now its ready to make the move with me. I feel really handy and talented looking at it. I think I can be a super mom now.

The Adventures Begin.

This week I had an interview at the Apple store. I drove to Salt Lake with my dad and we stayed with Glendon and Bobette. They are such a funny pair to be with. I quite enjoyed my little stay. On Thursday morning, we went out for breakfast and then I went to my soon to be apartment. Les and I watched Twilight or as my dad lovinly calls it,"twitchel." I was not overly entertained by the spider monkey. I guess I won't need to put that on my future purchase list. I took trax to my interview in the gateway, and was miffed out how long the train took. I arrived early anyways but, I could have been earlier. We were escorted to a meeting room, where I discovered that we would be having a group interview, in which I was the only female. It made me kinda nervous, but I survived. I felt like I did a good job. They told us they would call us next week, if they wanted to see us again. So, this morning to my surprise I had an email waiting from the manager asking me to come back on Monday. I'm stoked.

Also, I recieved the awards yesterday from the financial aid office, and I have college paid for. YES!!! I feel like my life couldn't be going any smoother. I am so blessed. I love you all, and I will post later about our rodeo activities.

Well, I decided that I needed to taked the time to post for the last time from Honduras. It has been an interesting week as I am sure you call all imagine. I wish I had more time to post funny stories or great memories but I don´t. I promise that when I get home I will do a good photo show. I feel slightly relieved to have made it to this point. I didn´t ever think that it would pass so rapidly. I love my Honduras. I feel so bad that this is happening(war) and that the U.S is supporting a communist(zelaya). I guess we will have to wait and see how things end. I love you.

18 months

Just for those of you who may have forgotten, I had my year and a half anniversary on Friday. thats right I finished my mission. I find it incredible that 18 months have passed. I am lucky to have a fews days left to enjoy my missionary service. I just want you all to remember that I have a testimony of this work. God is my father and He loves me. I can see now the ways that He prepared me for my mission. I hope that I can take with me all the knowledge that I have gained and put it to good use. I only have a 3 pdays left that mean only three more emails, three more times in the internet cafe, three more wonderful letters that I get to write. I hope everyone is getting ready for my homecoming its going to be a real thrill.

I realize its not very fun when the family says nothing at all on your blogs. so I am going to be good and write more often. this week we worked hard and saw results. the Lord has blessed me with his tender mercies. My mission President looks after me like father. I know he loves me and he says he has complete confidence in me. I was touched, because I felt like I hadn´t made a difference in this area. My goal is, always leave the area better than when you came. That seemed impossible here. Nothing is impossible for the Lord.
I heard Morgan was moving. ahhh. I guess I will have to make more trips north. I have Hermana Beech in Rexburg and she says I am welcome whenever. I hope I have the same invitation in Ashton. I love you. Keep the commandments. the Lord loves you.

The news came as a shock to me because I didn´t know that he was sick. I remember when he dressed up in the short shorts of yester year. I am proud that the Jazz one the game. I wish the family my best. How is everyone doing? I am sure the news is all in memory of Him. Everything can change in a year and a half.

I thought that you would all like to know that I just made a huge step forward. You know you tend to do that when you are on a mission. I was at an appointment with my favorite Hondo Mom and she gave me a big glass of milk. I don´t want to upset her by saying no. so what did I do. I quickly drank a glass of milk. if I thought that milk was bad in Utah, its worse here. Yuck. Oh the thinks that I do to live in Hondo land.
Just like to add, UTAH ROCKS. UNDEFEATED. I´m thrilled that they are doing so well. 7 in the polls. Thats without Alex. I wish I was home to go to a game. Enjoy it. Post more later

Tropical Paradise

I am slightly jealous of the cooler weather yall are enjoying. We are enjoying a nice round of tropical storms. When I imagined Honduras I only though of the beach, the only time I saw it was when we were flying over. The continual rain fall has created many problems, and I am tired of walking in he rain. Luckily we have a bus route that runs through our area, so that saves us in a little travel time. I normally enjoy walking but with all the rain, the bus is great. ONe problem, think of Dennis driving down straight canyon, put him in a school bus and add 80 people. Now you got a bus in Honduras. Everyday is an adventure, like you can´t even imagine.
Now, he purpose of this blog was to wish a very special little girl happy birthday. Leah Jane Schauerhamer Happpppppy First Birthday. All I can send you is an imaginary Kiss. I wish I was there to see you with your cake. Morgan take a video. I love you all. Take Care. Drive Safe.

A Big Happy 21st Birthday to My little sis Miranda. I wish I could do a dedicatory post but I lack pics. So you will have to do with my sentiments which at times you find to be overly dramatic. Suck it up and deal. I love you and I am so glad that you are my sister. You lived through quite a few near death experiences with me so I guess that means were suppose to be together. I know that you tried to kill me last summer with that trick bonnet. You got a good laugh at my expense. I am always willing to be the butt of a good joke. I remember taking you to Gateway by way of trax. You were so scared, all because a lady asked us for money to buy a hamburger. I hope that you aren´t so scared of the world still. one day I will bring you to honduras and you can see what public transport is really like. Adventure.
